The word for garden in the Abenaki language is Nebizonkik8nek, or field of medicine. Wijokadoak has colaborated with several organizations to create a model garden in Warner, NH at our home office.
HEALTH TENTS
The Health Tent project has made significant progress with New Hampshire and Vermont Abenaki and Native American populations in offering free health screening and education at Cultural Events.
Many providers and practitioners have joined together to offer the services geared to American Indian well being such as:
* Blood Pressure and Vitals
* Cholesterol screening and Diabetes blood sugar testing and education
* Drug and alcohol education and counseling
* Indian Child Welfare information
* Cancer education
* Head Trauma education
* HIV/AIDS education and self-testing kits
The Health Tent project has been generously funded from the New Hampshire AIDS Education and Training Center at Dartmouth Medical School.
